Annie Waterfield is a Clinical Psychologist, Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and Supervisor in Fremantle
I am a Clinical Psychologist in Fremantle with extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of a broad range of clinical problems. Attributes of empathy, integrity, and warmth fuel my passion for working with the complexities of the human condition. I can offer you a therapy experience which is confidential, non-judgemental and a safe space in which you can bring issues such as relational and parenting difficulties, work related stress, low self-esteem, and more challenging states such as anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma.
My work with clients is informed by Psychodynamic methodology which considers a person’s past developmental influences on their current life challenges. This approach addresses deeper, underlying issues in order to maximise long-term benefit. Through collaborative, compassionate engagement and a respectful stance, issues that influence our daily lives, life choices and relationships can be explored in order to enhance inner resources, understanding and an improved sense of one’s unique human condition.
I tailor my work to the client’s needs by offering focused short-term or long-term psychotherapy with a focus on the importance of the therapeutic relationship. I draw on a variety of evidence-based approaches underpinned by a Psychodynamic understanding to inform my work with a range of psychological problems in order to best serve the individual needs of my clients.
I offer supervision for other therapists and counsellors. I provide the opportunity for practitioners to engage in reflective practice in order to promote high standards of care and to manage clinical risks that may occur within their practice. In addition, to assist in professional and personal development and growth opportunities for practitioners to achieve, sustain and develop competency through reflection in depth on issues affecting practice. As an activity of professional support and a learning space supervision enables practitioners to develop knowledge, competence, maintain responsibility for their own practice and optimise safety and quality of care in client situations.
